Privacy Policy

Flush Rush ("we", "us", "our") helps people find clean public bathrooms. We collect only what we need to make that work. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email hello.flushrush@gmail.com.
The short version
We don't: sell your data. Show display ads. Track you across other apps or sites. Share data with brokers. Use your photos for anything other than the rating you attached them to.
Information we collect
Account information
- Email address — used to send one-time sign-in codes. Never shared.
- Display name — shown on your reviews. You choose this and can change it anytime in Settings.
- Optional home city — shown on your profile if you set one.
Your contributions
- Ratings and reviews — star ratings, attribute flags ("clean", "free", "accessible"), optional notes, and optional photos. Shown publicly to other users alongside your display name.
- Bathroom submissions — when you add a new bathroom, its name, address, type, and attributes are submitted for moderation. Approved submissions are visible publicly.
- Saved bathrooms — your saved/favorited list. Private to your account.
Device and usage data
- Location — only when you tap "Rate where I am" or open Trips. We never collect background location. Coordinates are used to find nearby bathrooms and to plot a trip route; we don't store your past locations.
- Camera and photos — only accessed when you choose to add a photo to a rating. Photos are processed locally (resized, transcoded to JPEG) before being uploaded.
- Streaks and points — local activity counters (days active, ratings submitted) used for in-app gamification. Synced to your account.
- Crash and basic usage data — anonymized error reports and aggregate usage stats so we can fix bugs.
How we use your information
- To run your account, sync your data across devices, and let you sign in.
- To display ratings, reviews, and submissions to other Flush Rush users.
- To find bathrooms near you when you request it.
- To moderate submissions for spam, abuse, or low quality.
- To fix bugs, improve the product, and contact you about your account (e.g., when a submission is approved).
Who we share data with
We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication. Your account data and contributions live here. (Supabase privacy)
- Mapbox — provides the map view and routing. We send only the coordinates needed to render a map or compute a route. (Mapbox privacy)
- Apple App Store / Expo (build infrastructure) — handles app distribution and over-the-air updates.
We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Your rights and choices
- Edit your profile — display name, home base, and ratings are editable in the app.
- Delete your account — Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account, ratings, saves, badges, and streaks. This cannot be undone.
- Withdraw location permission — iOS Settings → Flush Rush → Location.
- Request your data — email hello.flushrush@gmail.com with your account email and we'll send you a copy within 30 days.
Children
Flush Rush is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes your personal information from our active databases within 30 days. Approved public contributions (bathroom submissions, ratings) may be retained after account deletion but will be disassociated from your identity.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
